Professor Yu-Luen Ma joined the
faculty at Illinois State University's
Katie School in the fall semester of 2001.
Prior to her appointment at ISU, Professor Ma served on the faculty of the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.
She has published multiple articles in the Journal of Risk and Insurance, the
top academic journal in the
risk management and insurance discipline, as well as the Risk Management and
Insurance Review and the Geneva Papers on Risk and
Insurance. Recognized as both
an excellent instructor and researcher, she has won national and
international awards for her research and received similar recognition for
her creative approach to classroom instruction.
Professor Ma is a member of the
American Risk and Insurance Association, the Western Risk and Insurance Association, and Southern Risk and Insurance Association and
the Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association.
She earned her doctorate in Risk Management and Insurance at The University of Wisconsin-Madison. She also has a master's
degree in actuarial science from that same institution and has earned a
bachelor's degree in international relations from National Taiwan University.
