FIL 250 Introduction to Risk and Insurance

This course introduces the fundamental concepts of risk and insurance, with an emphasis on personal risk management products including life insurance, health insurance, automobile insurance, homeowner insurance, and group plans. Principles of the insurance mechanism, pricing, underwriting, and regulation are also presented.

FIL 354 Risk Management

This course is an advanced study of risks faced by firms, various methods used to measure and manage risks, and the process of making risk management decisions. By the end of the semester it is anticipated that the students will have enhanced and further developed specific skills necessary for success in future endeavors. These skills and abilities include critical thinking, teamwork, communication (both written and oral), spreadsheet and modeling capabilities.

A course web site is developed to aid students in the following courses by supplying them with ancillary study materials, as well as serving as a repository for basic information about the course.
