What is IMC?

IMC or Integrated Marketing Communication is an area of Marketing that includes advertising,  sales promotion, direct marketing, professional selling, publicity, public relations, event marketing, support strategies, digital and eMarketing, etc. etc.  any and all aspects of communicating with target audiences is part of the world of IMC – print media, broadcast, web, events, trade shows, email, direct mail, product placement – it’s all IMC.

If you always thought that you wanted to “work in advertising” IMC is for you.  If you want to work on any aspect of promoting/marketing a product, service, or organization, IMC is for you.  And, there are many aspects of developing and implementing IMC strategy.  It’s not all creative design.  Do you like analysis and research?  IMC depends on it.  Do you like organizing and taking care of details?  That’s crucial in IMC implementation.

Careers in IMC span the gamut from agency work to corporate marketing to event  marketing to sponsorships to not-for-profit marketing - you will have hundreds of career options by majoring in Marketing and completing the IMC Sequence.
