Resumes

Resume advice can vary widely.  Talk to several professors, Career Center professionals, bosses, etc. to get a variety of perspectives. Clarity, accuracy and content highlighting your professional experience and skills are generally the most important criteria to keep in mind when designing your resume - summarize what you can do for them.  QUANTIFY RESULTS WHEREVER POSSIBLE. Style and format preferences will vary by industry and by the organizations that you are approaching, but structure and layout are key - apply the 20 second rule.    IF you have a job description, revise your resume responding to the organization's needs as reflected in that job description (highlighting how/where you fit their needs).

You will probably want to have more than one resume - some may be tailored/positioned to particular types of jobs or industries.  Ultimately, this is YOUR resume -- after consulting web sites in our Job Search Matrix as well as seeking advice from your professors, the Career Center and current bosses, go with your instinct/preference on the details
PROOFREAD THOROUGHLY -- the one thing that will definitely get your resume "round-filed" is grammatical or spelling errors.  This is particularly true for large organizations such as ad agencies who receive hundreds of resumes weekly.   The IMC Job Search Matrix includes web sites which offer resume advice and examples.
