Professor Kang's Ph.D. is in insurance from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He joined Illinois State University faculty in 1983. He has taught finance, introduction to risk and insurance (undergraduate), risk management (graduate), and real estate courses at Illinois State University. Dr. Kang's insurance research includes service quality in automobile insurance, insurance fraud, redlining, insurance marketing systems, open competition law and insurance premiums comparison, economies of scale, and underwriting profit cycles in the property and casualty insurance. He has published insurance articles in the Journal of Banking and Finance, Southern Business Review, Journal of Business and Behavioral Science, Midwest Review of Finance and Insurance, and Money, Banking & Insurance (in Germany). Also, Dr. Kang has published some real estate articles in the Journal of Real Estate Research, and American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association Journal, among other journals. Professor Kang is a member of the American Risk and Insurance Association and the American Real Estate Society.
