My Teaching Philosophy

Learning by doing
My teaching philosophy can be summarized as a belief in learning by doing, balanced with a belief in providing the tools to succeed.  In keeping with this philosophy I introduce a concept but then use a project or in and out of class activities that are designed to make students think creatively about the current topic.  I believe that by applying a focal concept to a practical situation students get a better overall feel for the complexities and implications of the concept in a particular situation, a better understanding of implementation difficulties, and through these gain a greater ability to use the focal concept upon graduation.
