STEPS FOR GETTING
TEACHING CERTIFICATE
- All students should have applied for graduation and
requested a final transcript to be sent to themselves.
- After grades and the red doc forms are processed and in
the mainframe, the registrar's office does a final evaluation to determine
if they have completed all course and teacher ed requirements.
- Then the registrar's office notifies the Illinois State
Board of Education the names of the students who have completed our
approved teacher education program.
- At that time they will send a letter to all of the
graduates telling them how they will go to the ISBE website
"OTIS" and apply on-line. They will need a credit card to
pay the fee. The letter will direct the students to mail the transcript
to the Illinois Board of Ed
- If the student has passed the APT and has no other issues
that could preclude certification (drug convictions, class X felonies,
etc), the state will issue the certificate number at the end of the
on-line application. The student can print out a statement to that
effect before they leave the website.
- The state should then mail the actual certificate to the
students within 2-4 weeks
- Once students get their certificates, they will need to
register them with the ROE where they have a teaching position or will be
substituting
